Product Description

NOTE: This product is a clearance item which supermarkets discontinued, therefore we cannot guarantee it will continue to be available in New Zealand.

A rare handmade white tea from the Nuwara Eliya region of Ceylon, grown at 6,000 feet elevation. The tender buds of the tea plant are hand picked at dawn, carefully carried in a silk pouch and entirely handmade. The buds are sun dried and carefully hand rolled, producing the characteristic silver, needle-like buds, with a velvety texture. Their pale liquor is surpassingly light and delicate, elusive and mild on the palate with a touch of a 'greenish' seasonal high grown character in the finish. The beauty of the infused buds adds to the pleasure of this unique brew.

String and tag luxury pyramid teabags in a foil pouch, in a box of 10 teabags

Ingredients: Pure White Tea

Tasting Notes

Leaf colour is silver green, white with dark green edges, ash and a hint of blue. There are single whole buds and a down feathery texture. Infused leaf is the complete unopened bud of silvery green brown colour. This is a complex connoisseur tea with a multitude of flavours. The liquor is 'champagne' in colour with very pale yellow-gold highlights and a pink blush. The floral bouquet including roses as well as stone fruit including lychee skins and canned pear. They all combine to draw out a tea that is perfumed and utterly seductive on the nose.

I drink Dilmah White Tea on a daily basis - I love it. It has lovely smooth flavour, without the bitterness that green tea can sometimes have. I've recently discovered that this tea will no longer be stocked at supermarkets in NZ, which is very disappointing - hopefully Dilmah will still have it available from their online shop.
