Product Description

A gently smoked gourmet black tea produced in a traditional process that originates in the Qing Dynasty in China. The tea leaves are withered over pine or cypress wood fires producing a distinctive tarry note. This process originated in China's Fujian Province. The black strips of leaf produce a dark brown infusion and a liquor that is dark burgundy, reflecting its strength and body. This is a very traditional and distinctive tea with depth, body and a prominent wood smoke character.

Tasting Notes

Dark black rightly rolled large leaf with  aromas of smoky wood and resin of pine and eucalyptus. Juniper also present. The infused leaf is dark brown with olive green hints. The liquor is brown-orange with dark green shades. In smell and taste, this tea is smoky, minty, woody, earthy and has nuances of charcoal, mocha, cigar and pine. There is also ripe plum and a hint of small black berries. It is not a tannic tea but one of ambiance and the groomed personality of a gentleman.

  1. Lovely lingering aroma 5 Star Review

I first tasted this tea at a High Tea function, and was immediately a fan of it. I couldn't buy it in a supermarket so came on line to this website and there it was. Both my daughter and I really enjoy it, and it lives up to all your tasting notes and product reviews. It is a great accompniament to the likes of venison and savoury dishes, although we have also sipped it along with sweeter foods.
